The QB infamously demanded a trade on the eve of the 2021 NFL Draft but still ended up playing two more seasons in Green Bay. As the MMQB’s Albert Breer told The Ringer’s Kevin Clark (h/t Peter Bukowski on Twitter) the Jets “think they’re getting a different player than the Packers got last year because of the level of engagement.” However, age may have had nothing to do worth it. The team had several rookie receivers, the defense underperformed, and the team’s 39-year-old QB finally seemed to show some age.

There were a lot of reasons for the subpar Packers season in 2022. However, NFL insider Albert Breer says Rodgers’ new team, the New York Jets, isn’t concerned about the QB because they think his “level of engagement” is much higher this year.

Father Time and injuries have sapped that from him. Once upon a time, Green was an elite downfield threat who struck fear in the hearts of opposing secondaries. Graziano also connected the Packers with an actual receiver, veteran A.J. Mike Gesicki and Albert Okwuegbunam are two players who could be available. Green Bay also has Marcedes Lewis, Josiah Deguara, and Tyler Davis at tight end so any trade would make it likely one of them gets the boot. He has just 30 receptions for 251 yards and one touchdown through the first seven games. ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported one of his sources told him the Packers could do just that at the deadline.ĭespite suiting up for every game this season, Robert Tonyan hasn’t returned to his pre-injury self. However, they need to improve their pass-catchers across the board and a tight end could get the job done. The natural thought is that the Packers would target a wide receiver in any trade.
